I missed the HCM City Museum of Fine Arts when I was there. It looks quite impressive. On another note, I saw you are into archeology--any specific region or civilization? Would love to connect re that.
I highly recommend checking it out the next time you're in HCMC. It was fantastic! Yes, I love archeology. I have a Classics and Ancient Mediterranean Studies degree and love Egyptology and Ancient Roman archeology.
Good to know. I'm into the Maya civilization--self taught--by way of being in the Yucatán for so many years, having the bookstore, meeting archeologists and locals who lived there, and being within 100 miles of 4 major sites--pyramid hopped on our days off from the bookstore. It was the early days after they broke the code and every scholar, archeologist stopped into the store, and I was a rapt student. I learned on the fly.
Oh, I love that! I have taken a few classes on Mayan civilization. It is fascinating 😍Also, I didn't realize you have a bookshop, that's fantastic! And what area are you guys in again? My partner and I always travel through South America from January through May, and we haven't made plans yet after our trip to Mexico, but we are looking for some new places to check out.
Thanks Courtney and glad you’ve had a chance to read some about the Maya. Such a fascinating civilization. We’re in Puerto Morelos btwn Cancun and Tulum, now the Riv-Maya formerly Tulum corridor. But if you head this way I suggest using Merida as base. Pyramid hop from there to Uxmal (one of my favorites), Chichen Itza, Ek Balam. The coast is gorgeous but so crowded with tourists now. Merida is a colonial city with highest Maya concentration. You’ll love it!! I love S America! Disfruta!

PS - I’ll DM you one of my “Maya” posts that gives info in an overview. Later on today. Take care!
Oh, yes, please. I look forward to reading it!
